Improvement in accessibility and mobility in the port of Valencia Bottlenecks and actions to minimise its impact
Improving Mobility and Accesibility in urban and port areas: the MATAARI Final Conference. Florencia (Italia)
Llop-Chabreras, Miguel; Furió-Pruñonosa, Salvador. (Septiembre 2007)
The strong growth of containerised cargo combined with the increased pressure to comply with international security and safety requirements has overloaded manual procedures and practices used to control operations in ports and revealed how inadequate they were. This situation has encouraged inefficient control procedures to be shelved and be replaced by other methods in which technological solutions play a key role in identifying areas of improvement. This speech will summarize the activities carried out in MATAARI to improve the physical accessibility of the port network in order to optimise the use of transport resources, with consequent economic and environmental benefits.
