The Valencian Worldwide Investment and Foreign Trade Agency (IVEX)

The Valencian Worldwide Investment and Foreign Trade Agency (IVEX) once again held its most important event in the area of internationalization for businesses and enterpreneurs from the Region of Valencia: REDIVEX 2004.

On this occasion, Leandro García Menéndez, Director of the Valenciaport Foundation, took part in the closing ceremony, giving a speech entitled “ How to Export: Challenges and Opportunities in the New Context of International Trade“. García was accompanied by Cristina Villó, Director of the Internationalization Department at the IVEX.

García explained that the aim of the presentation was to provide an overall analysis of the changes that international trade is undergoing, with special emphasis on the emergence of new technologies and the confirmation that old models are obsolete. The institutional framework, basically that of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), adapts to these changes, causing protection to decrease, both in terms of tariff and non-tariff barriers.

Besides reinforcing our intention to promote the intangibles that give rise to competitiveness (differentiation, image and branding among others), García said that in this context, the importance of R+D+i and logistics is also highly relevant for export dynamics. He further insisted on more companies in the Region of Valencia adopting internationalization strategies.

The fourth session of REDIVEX 2004 once again managed to gather the delegates of the IVEX ´s foreign network with the aim of passing on information on the current market environment in their respective areas through the experience and skills of their Office Directors abroad. This was an opportunity for businesses to gain access to information, advice, and viability analysis of their plans of action in foreign markets through personali z ed interviews with qualified specialists from the IVEX network in 23 different geographic locations.
