Valencia, 26 November 2025. – Fundación Valenciaport has held its regular board meeting today, at which the action plan and budget for the 2026 financial year were approved, with the level of planned activity amounting to €8,174,130.
The organisation’s director general, Antonio Torregrosa, presented a very positive assessment of the year, in which the Foundation participated in 52 innovation projects funded by European and national programmes such as Horizon Europe, CEF, Digital Europe, Interreg Europe, LIFE, EUROMED, Erasmus+, EMFAF and the Valencian Regional Government.
New European projects in cybersecurity, customs and transport digitisation
During the second half of 2025, the Foundation secured the approval of four new European projects: ATHENA (Horizon Europe): Scalable cybersecurity solution to ensure compliance with new European regulations; CUSTOMAI (Horizon Europe): Artificial intelligence tools to optimise customs controls in the EU; EFTI4LIVE (CEF): Application of the EU’s EFTI Regulation to digitise and interoperate information in freight transport; and DETANGLE (Digital Europe): Automated platform to facilitate compliance with European cybersecurity regulations.
Succesful completion of projects
The Foundation will successfully complete ten key projects in 2025, including H2PORTS, 5G RADAR, ILIAD and ARSINOE. These initiatives have made it possible to test hydrogen-powered port machinery in real operations at the Port of Valencia; install mobility and berthing assistance radars; develop an advanced ballast water management system at the Port of Sagunto; and develop the CLEVER TOOL platform to support the Climate Change Observatory of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV).
Benefits for the logistics-port cluster
Torregrosa has quantified the significant benefits for the logistics-port cluster as a whole of the work carried out by the Fundación Valenciaport team, highlighting the €13.6 million budget promoted by the Foundation during 2025 for the development of European projects, 8.5 million of which is direct funding for the cluster to implement infrastructure and technological improvements and innovations in its areas of activity.
Torregrosa also presented the results of IMARPORT, the innovation promotion service aimed at the port cluster, which has facilitated the approval of a total of €85 million in grants for 19 companies between January and September this year. The grants are also intended for infrastructure, digitalisation and decarbonisation projects.
Valenciaport, a referent in open innovation
In the field of open innovation, the success of the 3rd edition of the Port Entrepreneurship International Congress (PEIC), held in October as part of the Valencia Digital Summit, was noteworthy. The event, organised by Opentop with the support of the APV and the Generalitat Valenciana, brought together 43 international speakers and more than 250 attendees. In addition, the Port of Valencia hosted the annual meeting of the Port Innovators Network (PIN), where 10 new port innovation hubs were welcomed.
International cooperation and specialised training
In the field of international cooperation, the director highlighted the recent collaboration with the Port of Santos in its decarbonisation process and in defining a sustainable energy strategy. He also announced the upcoming launch of the 5th edition of the Master’s Degree in Port Logistics in Brazil.
In the field of training, he reported on the launch of the 34th edition of the Master’s Degree in Port Management and Intermodal Transport, the 22nd edition of the Port Services Course, the 4th edition of the Railway Engineer Licence and Diploma Course, and the 12th edition of the Customs Representative Course. According to the director, students from previous editions of the latter course have achieved an 80% pass rate in the official AEAT Customs Representative exam.
Horizon 2030
Finally, Torregrosa presented Fundación Valenciaport’s Strategic Plan 2025-2030, whose strategic objectives include improving the transfer and exploitation of knowledge and innovation results; consolidating Valenciaport’s open innovation ecosystem; supporting improvements in efficiency, safety and digital transformation; and accompanying the port community’s energy transition and environmental sustainability process.
