DETANGLE is a project aimed at strengthening the effective implementation of the NIS2 Directive, which establishes new cybersecurity requirements for critical sectors in the European Union, such as energy, health, transport and digital infrastructure. The Directive introduces stricter requirements for risk management, incident reporting, supply chain security and certification processes, which pose significant challenges, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises and national authorities with limited capabilities.
The project addresses key challenges such as fragmentation between Member States, lack of technical capabilities in national agencies, high adaptation costs for SMEs, risks associated with global supply chains, poor incident reporting culture, and the emergence of new technological threats linked to AI, IoT, and quantum computing.
To address these needs, DETANGLE is developing a set of innovative solutions, including:
- An AI-based incident management platform to improve detection, response and collaboration between European entities.
- NIS2 Compliance Tracker, a tool for breach analysis, compliance monitoring, reporting and cybersecurity training.
- A Pan-European collaboration centre dedicated to threat intelligence sharing, crisis simulation and shared resource availability.
- Certification support framework incorporating self-assessment modules and access to an up-to-date knowledge base.
- Cyber Resilience Act (CRA) monitoring and enforcement toolkit aimed at compliance verification, accreditation and risk reporting.
The expected results include greater cyber resilience in the European Union, reduced compliance costs, strengthened cross-border cooperation and direct support for SMEs and national authorities.
Fundación Valenciaport coordinates the use case focused on assessing regulatory compliance and optimising incident management in port authorities.
