Valencia, 24 November 2025.– Opentop, Valenciaport’s innovation hub, is advancing its open innovation strategy with the launch of a permanent call for start-ups. This is the implementation of the ‘always open call’ model, whereby, through its revamped web platform www.opentop.es, startups and innovative projects can register at any time of the year, without being limited by closed call deadlines.
Opentop complements this model with a strategy of actively scouting for startups. Opentop identifies startups and technological innovations whose solutions can respond to specific needs in the logistics and port sector, offering a twofold opportunity.
On the one hand, startups can register through the web portal to enter Opentop’s innovative ecosystem. On the other hand, through PIN (Port Innovators Network), startups can choose to solve the 18 challenges recently published by this international network, which are available at https://portinnovators.net/challenges.
‘This global dimension exponentially multiplies the opportunities for startups in our ecosystem,’ Opentop points out. ‘A startup can start by solving a challenge in Valencia and end up scaling its solution to international ports.’
The design of the new web tool that has just been launched reflects the philosophy of inviting start-ups, as well as corporations and investors, to form part of an open innovation ecosystem in the logistics and port sector in Valenciaport. The web portal also provides information on the activities organised by Opentop, such as the Valenciaport Hackathon, the port video podcast ‘OpenTalks’ and the recently held PEIC (Port Entrepreneurship International Congress). It also features news on open innovation that is of interest to the port community.
Opentop’s revamped web platform incorporates the latest technologies to ensure an optimal and accessible user experience. Among its features is the audio reading of blog posts and news, allowing users to consume content in audio format adapted to the moment they are consulting it. This technological commitment reflects the hub’s commitment to innovation, applying it not only to the port ecosystem but also to its own digital tools.
