The CoVE SShaRP project (Centres of Vocational Excellence for Safe, Secure and Resilient Ports) aims to bolster excellence in vocational training within the European port sector. It adopts an integrated approach to address challenges related to safety, security, resilience, and digitalisation in the context of the twin green and digital transitions.
To achieve this, CoVE SShaRP promotes the creation of a transnational platform of Centres of Vocational Excellence (CoVE), connecting training providers, port authorities, companies, sector associations, and certification bodies across six European and Mediterranean countries.
The project seeks to anticipate future skill requirements in the port sector and translate them into innovative, inclusive training programmes aligned with European standards. These programmes combine classroom learning, advanced digital training, and work-based learning in real-world environments.
Key lines of action include skills needs analysis, the design of new professional profiles and modular curricula, the development of Open Educational Resources (OER), the implementation of mobility and work-based learning programmes, and the creation of a skills certification and validation system aligned with European frameworks.
This is complemented by a strong commitment to applied innovation and entrepreneurship, aimed at linking vocational training with the business fabric and regional smart specialisation strategies.
Fundación Valenciaport participates actively in the consortium as a beneficiary partner and plays a strategic role in the project through applied research, innovation, and entrepreneurship for regional specialisation.
Fundación Valenciaport coordinates the creation and operation of a network of National Innovation Hubs, inspired by the Opentop model. These hubs act as collaborative spaces for vocational training, companies, startups, and knowledge centres. They drive applied innovation projects, mentoring and entrepreneurship support programmes, and knowledge transfer activities designed to solve real-world challenges in the port sector.
Furthermore, Fundación Valenciaport contributes to other key work packages, supporting the integration of innovation into training content, providing real-world environments for work-based learning, participating in CoVE governance and sustainability activities, and boosting the dissemination and impact of project results through its extensive network within the port and logistics ecosystem.
CoVE SShaRP, co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ programme, aspires to create a lasting impact on the European port sector by strengthening employability, professional mobility, and port competitiveness, while consolidating a training, innovation, and cooperation ecosystem aligned with the goals of the European Green Deal and the Digital Decade.
