eFTI4LIVE

eFTI4LIVE is a project focused on the practical application and scaling of the European Commission’s eFTI (Electronic Freight Transport Information) Regulation (EU Reg. No. 2020/1056). Its main objective is the digitization of freight transport information to significantly improve the efficiency, transparency, and sustainability of the sector throughout the European Union.

The project is based on the need to standardize electronic communication, ensuring secure and interoperable data exchange. To be recognized as an eFTI platform, any digital tool must guarantee the protection of sensitive information, strictly complying with security, privacy, and data protection requirements, thus protecting against unauthorized access or misuse.

The key objectives of the eFTI4LIVE project are:

  • To promote the advanced digitization of freight transport and logistics
  • To reduce administrative costs and enhance the capacity of competent authorities to implement new regulations
  • To substantially improve the efficiency and sustainability of the entire EU transport system

50% funded by the European Commission’s CEF program and led by Spain’s Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, the project brings together 42 beneficiaries and 14 partners from 18 Member States, including a diverse consortium of IT providers, authorities, and logistics companies.

The project is aligned with the EU’s strategic objectives, such as the European Data Spaces and digital transformation. Its lines of action include:

  • Expanding implementation: Reducing participation gaps among Member States and effectively connecting eFTI platforms
  • Strengthening interoperability: Developing, testing, and integrating eFTI platforms for seamless data exchange between all modes of transport
  • Exploring innovations: Including the development of eFTI platform pre-certification and the use of electronic identity wallets
  • Real-world testing: Implementing and validating eFTI in complex multimodal transport scenarios

In the case of Fundación Valenciaport, it will actively contribute to the initiative by providing support for the coordination of the project to the Ministry of Transport and supporting the implementation of associated eFTI systems (Gateway, Access Points, and platforms) in Spanish use cases.

This work focuses on adapting the SIMPLE platform and integrating systems developed by the Port Authorities of Huelva and Valencia, with a special focus on the ValenciaportPCS platform, thus contributing to initiatives such as the Single European Digital Enabling Area (SEDEA) and reinforcing the vision of a connected and efficient European transport system.
