The PortCrew project, ‘Port-City Regions To Wave Med Cruise Destinations As Smart, Sustainable And Striking Eco-Tourism Systems’, aims to promote smart and sustainable ecotourism in MED cruise ports, increasing the tourist value of lesser-known inland natural areas.
In particular, pilot projects will be carried out in the ports of Valencia, Koper, Toulon, Ravenna, and Thessaloniki, where the aim is to develop eco-sustainable excursion packages, as well as a technological platform to make relevant information available to cruise passengers.
In terms of its contribution to the port community, the project seeks to join the initiatives launched by Valenciaport to promote a more sustainable cruise offering. Specifically, in Valencia, the development of new eco-sustainable routes is being considered, designed especially for groups of cruise passengers belonging to emerging sectors or with specific needs, such as people with disabilities, families with young children, or new generations such as millennials, Generation Z, and the future Alpha generation.
These routes aim to diversify the province’s tourist offering, encouraging the decentralization of visitors and alleviating pressure on the most popular tourist areas. In addition, an electronic totem will be installed in the vicinity of the passenger terminal, providing up-to-date and personalized information to passengers upon their arrival at the Port of Valencia.
This initiative continues the collaboration between the Port Authority of Valencia and the Provincial Council in designing new tourist experiences, and will culminate in the organization of a fam trip to showcase some of the routes created through the project.
