Valencia – 13.02.19. The Director of Port Development of the Fundación Valenciaport, Arturo Monfort, participated yesterday in the port event “The intermodality in the international transport of goods”, celebrated in the Chamber of Commerce of Lima (Peru), giving the lecture “Facilities of the infrastructure for the multimodal transport”.
Peru is determined to innovate in the field of intermodality in the transport of goods by promoting cabotage and rail transport. Callao, the first port on the Pacific coast of South America, continues to grow and requires the incorporation of new doses of innovation that guarantee the physical and information flow in the supply chains.
The Lima Chamber of Commerce, which brings together 15,000 members from various sectors, organized the aforementioned port event on intermodality, inviting the Port of Los Angeles and the Port of Valencia, through the Valenciaport Foundation, to share their experiences in this and other matters.
The event aroused maximum interest and was attended by a large number of people. After the contribution of the speakers, the actors of the logistic-port community discussed solutions that will soon become concrete in actions that will materialize in new investments in the port and in the development of dry satellite ports that will allow to laminate the degree of terrestrial vehicle congestion of the port installation.
The Director of International Development of the Fundación Valenciaport, Miguel Garín, also travelled to Peru to hold a meeting with Arturo Monfort and representatives of the National Port Authority and the Multimodal SAS firm as part of the El Callao Master Plan project.
