Valencia, 23 April 2026. The Terminal Industry Committee 4.0 (TIC4.0) held its General Assembly today in Valencia. The event, organised by the Fundación Valenciaport in its capacity as General Secretariat, consolidates the city’s position as a key leader in innovation and digitalisation within the European port and logistics ecosystem.
During the event, TIC4.0 officially announced the recent publication of the PAS 4000:2026 standard, recognised by the British Standards Institution (BSI), which defines the semantic model of the standards developed by the association. This milestone represents a significant step towards interoperability and structured data exchange across the entire container logistics chain, reinforcing TIC4.0’s role as a global leader in standardisation.
The Assembly featured the prominent participation of key organisations in the sector, including the Ship Message Design Group (SMDG), the Open Logistics Foundation, the International Port Community Systems Association (IPCSA), the Federation of European Private Port Operators (FEPORT) and the Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA), reflecting the growing international alignment around the need for open, interoperable and shared standards.
Furthermore, the firm Boston Consulting Group is participating as a strategic partner of TIC4.0, contributing its expertise in digital transformation and strategy within a context of increasing operational and regulatory complexity.
The General Assembly coincided with the Container Terminal Automation Conference 2026, which is being held for the third consecutive year in Valencia, reinforcing the city’s position as a key meeting point for leaders in the container terminal sector.
For its part, the Fundación Valenciaport continues to play a key role in revitalising the association and in coordinating initiatives that promote innovation, standardisation and collaboration among the various stakeholders in the port community.
With this General Assembly, TIC4.0 reaffirms its commitment to developing standards that enable more efficient, transparent and sustainable logistics, at a time when digitalisation is establishing itself as a critical factor for the competitiveness of international trade.
