The Fundación Valenciaport launches a cycle of 4 Webinars in collaboration with the CIP-OAS

Valencia – 07.05.20. The Fundación Valenciaport has launched a new cycle of free webinars, this time in collaboration with the Secretariat of the Inter-American Committee on Ports (S/CIP) in the context of its Scholarship and Training Program. The objective of this initiative, which is the result of the close collaboration between both entities since 2000, is to strengthen the technical capacities of Latin American port officials and to offer tangible solutions to the new challenges, through 4 webinars that will address issues of relevance to the maritime-port sector of the Americas.

The first of these webinars will be held next Tuesday, May 19, at 12:00 noon in Washington D.C. (10:00 am in Central America, 11:00 am in Mexico, 1:00 pm in Uruguay and 6:00 pm in the United States). Spain) and will have as speaker the Director of International Development of the Fundación Valenciaport, Miguel Garín, who will offer an overview of the key aspects of port modernization, both at a general level and in the region, and will present the strategic actions needed to become a smart port. This webinar will be moderated from Washington D.C. by Jorge Duran, Head of the S/CIP, offering a hemispheric point of view. 

The following webinars will deal with topics that are also very current: the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which will be given on 2 June by the President of the Port Authority of Valencia (APV), Aurelio Martínez; multimodality and competitiveness for trade facilitation, which will be held on 16 June by Ana Margarita Reyes, Deputy Administrator of the Panama Maritime Authority; and security and cyber security protocols in ports, which will be held on 7 July and will feature Federico Torres, Director of Security, Environment and Facilities of the APV.

This cycle of webinars will also be held through the Virtual Classroom platform of the Fundación Valenciaport and will last 45 minutes. Places are limited and will be filled in strict order of registration.
