The UPV, Inndux and Fundación Valenciaport launch the first online degree in innovation and digitalisation of the logistics-port sector

  • Classes will start on 24 September
  • The current context has highlighted the need to train managers and middle management in the trends and technologies that are going to influence and impact on port-logistics activity.

Valencia – 08.07.2021. Port activity and the industry that surrounds it have always suffered from a lack of harnessing the potential of new technologies and business innovation. From this lack arose the Ports 4.0 project, a corporate open innovation model adopted by Puertos del Estado and the Spanish Port Authorities to attract, support and facilitate the application of talent and entrepreneurship in the Spanish public and private port-logistics sector. This initiative is endowed with 20 million euros and is being managed by KMPG and Innsomnia, a subsidiary of the Inndux Digital Group.

Now, Inndux Digital Group, the prestigious School of Civil Engineering of the Polytechnic University of Valencia and the Valenciaport Foundation, the knowledge and innovation centre of the Valenciaport cluster, have joined forces to go a step further and set up a differential and disruptive postgraduate programme in the logistics-port sector.

The University Expert in Innovation and Digitalisation of the Logistics-Port Sector is a UPV-specific degree with 20 ECTS and will address areas of great interest for the sector: logistics efficiency in the infrastructural, operational or service provision areas; environmental and energy sustainability; safety and security; and, finally, the digitalisation of processes and smart platforms.

The programme is divided into four blocks. The first of these is entitled “Keys and trends of the Digital Era: disruptive technologies in the port-logistics ecosystem” and will address the major technological trends and disruptive technologies.  “The port logistics chain and its digitisation needs” is the second block and will look in depth at aspects such as the port community and its physical flows and documentary exchange flows as well as efficient and intelligent infrastructures (automation and robotisation). The third section will offer a broad overview of digitalisation and innovation applied to environmental and energy sustainability in port logistics. Finally, the fourth section will detail digital processes, intelligent platforms and cyber-security in port-logistics activity.
