EIT Climate-KIC is the European Innovation and Knowledge Community working to accelerate the transition to a carbon-free economy. With the support of the European Institute of Technology, a body of the European Union, EIT Climate-KIC identifies and supports innovation capable of mitigating global warming and combating climate change.
EIT Climate-KIC is an Innovation and Knowledge Community (KIC) that brings together partners from the private sector, academia, government and the non-profit sector to create a network of experts capable of developing innovative products, services and systems to put them on the market and scale up their impact on society.
The Valenciaport Foundation has been a “core partner” of EIT Climate-KIC since 2019 and leads several projects co-financed by this entity such as “LOOP-Ports” ( a circular economy related project) or “Deep Demonstrations in Maritime Hubs” in which the port of Valencia has committed to achieving zero net emissions by 2030. In addition, Fundación Valenciaport and EIT Climate-KIC have jointly launched a new initiative, #SuperLabPorts, a space for entrepreneurship and innovation to accelerate solutions to the challenges of climate change in the maritime-port sector and to create synergies between all actors in the ecosystem. Its objective is to apply a strategy of open innovation through the co-design of solutions that can be developed and implemented in the port of Valencia and thus contribute to achieving such an ambitious challenge.
