Course objectives

Following the publication in May 2014 of the latest amendments to Spanish Royal Decree 335/2010, the document that governs the activities of Customs Representation, by 2020 all freight forwarders and customs agencies must ensure that their customs management staff member and/or legal representative are accredited “Customs Representatives”.

The resolution of 21 July 2016 from the Presidency of the AEAT published in Spanish Official State Bulletin of 28 July, called for proficiency tests for Customs Representative training. Pursuant to the provisions of Spanish Royal Decree 335/2010, these tests are to be held every two years, with the last scheduled for 2020.

After this date, companies wishing to engage in customs representation will be required to have at least one accredited person, either in management or a staff member. It is also highly recommended for all companies with Authorized Economic Operator status to have one accredited person, due to the changes implemented as a result of the new EU Customs Code.

ATEIA OLT and Fundación Valenciaport are organizing this preparatory course for the exams using a clearly defined methodology, the primary aim of which is to prepare students to successfully pass the exam. As such, the course is entirely practical, with teaching staff who are experts in their respective subjects.

Students who have successfully passed earlier editions of this course have been exempt from sitting the theory part of the official exam: above and beyond the knowledge acquired, this recognition is a distinguishing feature and a clear advantage relative to others seeking to become accredited Customs Representatives.

Who it is aimed at

It is aimed at all those with ties to foreign trade and logistics interested in obtaining this professional accreditation, but it is primarily for current customs managers and legal representatives of Freight Forwarders and Customs Agencies from the sector who have yet to obtain it.
